Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has directed the Vice Chancellor, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Professor Michael Olufisayo Ologunde, to step aside until further notice.
The governor stated this in a circular released by the Commissioner of Education, Olasunkanmi Olaleye on Friday.
According to the circular, the VC is expected to handover to the next Principal Officer in order to ensure uninterrupted flow of normal activities in the University.
Insideoyo.com recalls that during his last media chat at the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS), Governor Makinde had claimed that the vice-chancellor instigated workers of the university to agitate payment of their unpaid salaries.
Makinde said he was surprised that workers at the university started agitating payment of outstanding salaries immediately after the crisis rocking the university was resolved.
He said he sent some persons to go and find out what was the reasons for it and was surprised that his emissaries told him that the VC instigated the workers to demand their salaries because it was announced that Oyo State would pay N8bn to Osun State after it has secured the sole ownership of LAUTECH.
Prof Ologunde became the first home-grown Vice-Chancellor of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in 2019.
As the seventh Vice-Chancellor, he had promised to ensure strict adherence to the laudable vision of the founding fathers.
