The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has cancelled its Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scheduled to hold on Monday (today) at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, following students protest.
InsideOyo.com had early reported how the angry students barricaded the entrance of the institution as early as 6 a.m, to show their displeasure towards the owner states over the non-payment of salaries to staff which has culminated into incessant strike actions.
NewTelegraph in an exclusive interview with the Director of Press of JAMB, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, he explained that the decision was taken to avoid any of its examination candidates being injured in the process.
According to Benjamin, the candidates would be relocated to other centres soon.
He said: “We have noticed the insistence of the protesting students and it would not be safe to employ force. The candidates will be reallocated to other centres; they should monitor their emails to know where they would be posted to.”
