Following the unrest that rocked the Iwo Road axis of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, on Wednesday, shop owners have called for the sack of the Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi (also known as Auxilliary) as the Chairman Disciplinary Committee of the Park Management System.

The traders who did not mince words expressed dissatisfaction in the conduct and manner of operations of the PMS operatives during the visit of the Governor to the scene of the incident.

Responding, the governor assured the people that investigation has been launched into the incident and confirmed that, in the meantime, the government would sanitise the area behind Iwo Road where cultists congregate.

He equally promised to review the PMS and ensure that everyone involved in the act is brought to book.

He added that those involved in the dastardly act would be brought to book while also assuring the government’s support to the affected phone sellers.

Makinde said, “I visited the scene of the Iwo Road incident this morning. The loss of lives during the mayhem that occurred is unfortunate and should never have happened. I give you my word that we will ensure that everyone involved in the dastardly act is brought to book.

“I have ordered investigations. In the meantime, we will sanitise the area behind Iwo Road where cultists assemble and review the Park Management System.

“We have also informed the phone sellers to choose representatives who will discuss how we can assist them.”

Meanwhile, in a similar development, two separate groups of protesters beat the security operatives to gain entrance into the Secretariat complex.

A group of concerned women, who were suspected to be traders in Iwo Road had driven into the Secretariat unannounced in convoy of private cars.

After parking their cars in different places without been noticed, the women assembled at the entrance of the Governor’s office where they expressed anger and bitterness, especially at the death of the son of one of the shop owners.

The women who rained curses on the perpetrators caused a scene at the Governor’s office entrance.

They were disallowed from gaining access into the office by the security operatives at the gate.

Not done, the women later moved to the entrance of the Oyo State House of Assembly Complex to also expressed their anger at the government and the PMS operatives.

No government official attended to them at both entrances.

Shortly as they finished, another group of protesters carrying placards marched to the same entrance of the Governor’s office.

They called for justice and assurance that the perpetrators of the dastardly act be brought to book.

The situation again for the second time in two days forced the main entrance gate into the Secretariat to be shut.

After the protests, for hours, the main entrance into the Secretariat was left half opened while safety measures were also noticed around most of the ministries, department and agencies within the Secretariat complex.
