A member of the House of Representatives, Engr. Remi Oseni, who currently represents Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, has formally declared his intention to contest the Oyo South Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections, stating that his ambition is driven by a continued commitment to service rather than personal advancement.

Oseni made the declaration during a meeting with party leaders, supporters and stakeholders across the senatorial district in Ibadan on Sunday , where he described his political journey as one rooted in purpose, sacrifice and responsibility.

According to him, what began as a modest political movement has grown into a formidable structure with influence across Oyo State, built on the dedication and unity of his supporters.

“It started as a movement through God’s grace, but today, it has become a household name across the state. What once looked ordinary has transformed into an unstoppable movement for justice, equity and a better life for our people,” he said.

He noted that the gathering was convened not only to review progress and strengthen internal cohesion ahead of the 2027 elections, but also to formally communicate his next political direction.

“As your leader and servant, it is my duty to inform you of my next political path so that together we can align our vision, our strategy and our resources towards its realisation. I seek your prayers, your support and your endorsement,” he added.

The lawmaker emphasised that his approach to politics has always been anchored on service to the people, stressing that leadership is defined by responsibility rather than position.

“I have not come with entitlement or pride, but with purpose. Politics for me has never been about personal glory; it has always been about service and sacrifice. Leadership is not about position, but about responsibility,” he said.

“I have served well, and I am prepared to serve more. My mission has always been to make life meaningful and more enjoyable for our people, and that will not change regardless of the office I occupy,” he stated.

He highlighted some of his achievements in office, including infrastructural projects such as road construction, school and hospital interventions, as well as empowerment programmes for youths, women, traders and artisans.

“I have supported education through scholarships and payment of school fees, empowered market women and artisans, and contributed to infrastructure development across the constituency. I have not been a silent occupant of the National Assembly; I have actively contributed to motions and policies that benefit our people,” Oseni said.

The lawmaker also referenced his legislative contributions, including motions on road maintenance funding and calls for improved healthcare access, particularly for patients suffering from critical illnesses.

Speaking on his political structure, Oseni said his movement, which he described as a mobilisation platform for development and political participation, has spread across all 33 local government areas of the state.

He added that the structure would play a key role in supporting the All Progressives Congress in future elections and expanding opportunities for youths and women in politics.

“My ambition to become a senator is not a departure from service, but a continuation of it. The office may change, but my mission remains the same, to serve, to impact and to leave a legacy,” he said.

Oseni also pledged continued political support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027, stating that his structure would work through the Renewed Hope initiative to mobilise voters across the state.

“We remain committed to the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. Through our Renewed Hope structure, we are mobilising across Oyo State, and by the grace of God, we are confident of delivering over one million votes for the President,” he said.

“I have consulted widely with stakeholders across Oyo South, and my conviction is clear, I can win both the party ticket and the general election. However, this remains subject to the will of God and the endorsement of our great party,” he added.

He pledged that, if elected, he would prioritise education, healthcare, job creation and youth empowerment, while also working to attract federal projects and infrastructure to the district.

“I want to win this election for justice, for better schools, for accessible healthcare, and for opportunities that will uplift our people. I am ready for the Senate, and I assure you, I will not disappoint you,” he said.

Also present at the event was Senator Sharafadeen Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District at the National Assembly. Alli urged party members and stakeholders to rally behind Oseni, describing him as a committed party man with a track record of grassroots engagement.

He said, “Oseni has shown capacity and dedication in his current role. I encourage party faithful and the people of Oyo South to support him as he seeks to serve at a higher level.”
