The Vice Chancellor, Prof. K. O. Adebowale mni, FAS, has assured graduates of the University that difficulties and delays in processing and obtaining transcripts has now become a thing of the past. This he stated, is because the University has now adopted a digital approach in the processing of transcripts.
The Vice Chancellor made this statement while receiving the alumni of Sultan Bello Hall of the University of Ibadan in his office recently.
Prof Adebowale stated that his management team, in recognition of the delay and difficulties usually involved in the issuance of transcripts in UI made it a priority to tackle the challenge, thereby introducing a digital approach which makes the process seamless and fast.
The Vice Chancellor congratulated the Sultan Bello Hall alumni on the 60th anniversary of the great Hall, which has bred great men in the society.
While acknowledging a gap between the University of Ibadan and it’s alumni, due to its inability to capture all students that have graduated from the University, Prof Adebowale assured all that the University now seeks to bridge the gap.
The 13th Vice Chancellor of the University expressed the desire of his management to provide 100% accommodation for student in order to avoid detachment of the students who stay off campus from the University, and to address the insecurity issues that they face. He therefore called on the University Alumni and friends to partner with the University in addressing this, by building affordable private hostels on campus.
He assured the Sultan Bello Hall alumni that the University has continued to commit considerable resources to sustain the Hall and other halls on campus, in order to ensure that their legacies live on. He however admitted that this has been a challenging task, given the paucity of fund and resources in the University. He therefore enjoined the University Alumni to support the University in this regard.
Prof Adebowale congratulated and pledged the University’s support to the Alumni of Sultan Bello Hall in anyway required as they prepare for the commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the Hall of great men in September.
Speaking prior to the Vice Chancellor, the team lead and Hall master of the Hall, Prof Dhikiru A. Yagboyaju stated that the visit was to intimate the University management of the intent and programmes to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the prestigious hall, and to seek the management’s support. He appreciated the continued efforts of successive managements of the University in sustaining the legacy of the great Hall, of which they all have euphoric memories
Also on the visit were the Hall warden, Dr O O. Oyebode, the Assistant Hall warden, Dr. Y.A. Babarinde, past members of the hall executives, including Prof. Gbenga Larinde, Mr Kolawole Hamzat, Mr Muyiwa S. Adedayo, other members of the alumni, including the Director University of Ibadan Press, Mr O.M. Oladejo, Mr Bello M. Adetokunbo and Barr Taiwo Garba. Others include current Executive members and staff of the Hall.
Present at the occasion were the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. E. O. Ayoola, the Dean of Students, Prof Adekeye Abiona and the Director, University Advancement Centre, Mr A.A. Adebowale Adeosun. Others include the Deputy Registrar (Vice Chancellor’s Office) Mrs Morenike Afolabi and the Public Relations Officer, Mrs Adejoke Akinpelu among others.
