In his efforts to complement the Seyi Makinde-led government on security, the chairman of Ibarapa North local government area, Honourable Lateef Adebare Akorede has launched Operation KAI (Kick Against Insecurity) in the local government area.
Akorede also distributed four motorcycles to local hunters to strengthen their activities towards combating crimes in the area.
The event took place, on Thursday, at the local government council premises shortly after the local government security meeting which had in attendance traditional rulers.
While speaking, the council chairman said he will not relent in his efforts to give necessary support to conventional and local security personnel to allow them discharge their duties.
He urged the local hunters to make judicious use of the motorcycles and not misuse the opportunities.
He also called on all residents to be security vigilant and report any suspicious movement to the security personnel.
He said: “The importance of adequate security to lives and property cannot be overemphasized, thus, one of the cardinal programmes of His Excellency Engineer Sey! Makinde led administration in the State is to guarantee a safer and secured Oyo State.
“Today, our administration is embarking on the distribution of motorcycles to the Local hunters to complement the effort of our amitable Governor on security issues and basically to equip and strengthen the capacity of our Local hunters in their operations purposely to protect the lives and properties of citizens of Ibarapa North Local Government. I therefore charge the beneficiaries of the motorcycles not to misuse this great opportunity.
“On our part, the Local Government will not relent in its effort at giving necessary support to both the conventional and the Local Security Personnel in their fight for a secured and safer society.
“At this juncture, I am happy to inform you that recently, Ibarapa North Local Government under my watch donated a Pathfinder Jeep Patrol Van to Igangan Police Command just to boost its operation. Plans are also in the pipeline to equip our Local Vigilante Operatives for effective performance.
“In conclusion, I charge all and sundry to be vigilante and security cautious. If you notice any strange movement report immediately to the nearest security outfit. If you see something, say something.”
