The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Oyo State, Barr. Mutiu Agboke has assured the electorate of the commitment of the Commission to partner with EFCC in curbing menace of Vote buying/selling and other related offences ahead of 2019 general elections.
Barr. Agboke stated this today 20th December at a courtesy visit to the Zonal Head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrashed Bawa and his management team in Ibadan the capital city of Oyo State.
The Hon. REC noted further that, EFCC must ensure the security of voting process and close monitoring of Political Parties’ financial spending, adding that electorate’s vote must count in the coming general elections.
The Zonal Head of EFCC in his response maintained that “the Commission is poised at monitoring the monetization of the electoral process especially among the politicians with a view to reposing the electorate’s confidence”.
He regreted that vote trading has become an’ endangered species” among the political class but however noted the commitment of EFCC in curbing the electoral vices and other related offences in prosecuting the erring politicians.
