Following Governor Seyi Makinde’s directive that stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP should meet and agree on candidates across the state, Barrister Sharafadeen Onijo has emerged as the preferred candidate of the party for Saki East, Saki West and Atisbo federal constituency.
This coming following a meeting of stakeholders held in Saki West local government on Saturday.
At the meeting, Barrister Sharafadeen Onijo scored 8 points, Mr Lukman Adisa also known as Adamawa scored 6 points, Engineer Najeem Omirinde scored 1 point while other remaining candidates scored 0.
However, the Chairman of Saki West local government, Engineer Sarafadeen Omirinde and the Chairman of the party in the local government, Mr Wasiu Aiyesoro kicked against the results.
This newspaper gathered that their reaction was because their preferred candidate, Mr Adisa Lukman also known as Adamawa didn’t emerge.
Adamawa is the Liason officer to Governor Seyi Makinde on Saki East, Saki West and Atisbo federal constituency.
With Onijo’s emergence, stakeholders from other local government areas that form the constituency are expected to meet tomorrow to finalize.
This newspaper also gathered that Atisbo local government has an aspirant, Elder Debo Adejumobi while Saki East local government has no aspirant.
Stakeholders at the meeting were Former Deputy Governor of Oyo state, Alhaji Hameed Gbadamosi (Absent with), Former Deputy Speaker and Chairman, Oyo State House of Assembly Service Commission, Rt Hon Musah Abdulwasi, former Chairman of Saki West LG, Alhaji Ganiyu Alaka, Engineer Himus Gbadamosi, Former Minority Leader of Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon, Adekunle Rafiu, Alhaji Jimoh Adesina, Assistant Organising Secretary of the PDP and others.
