Alhaji (Hon.) Abdulhakeem Ademola Ige AGAIN perfectly fits into Steve Largent’s quote: “I think leadership is more than just being able to cross the t’s and dot the i’s. It’s about character and integrity and work ethic”.
Since 2003, when Hon. Ige made his debut as a political functionary, he has remained consistent in demonstrating that there is nothing as good as a leader writing his name in gold in the hearts of the people by keeping faith with them. The ever-vibrant Ige I know is a young man with mental power, political tact and capacity for self-sacrifice.
Hon. Ige is setting a standard template for all young politicians and Nigerian parliamentarians by distinguishing himself as a dynamic, articulate and vibrant people’s servant. Where should I start from? Is it provision of critical infrastructures to the people of Ibadan Southeast LGA? Is it employment and empowerment of large number of youths and women? Is it his simplicity and forthrightness? Is it his monumental contributions towards the socio-economic and political stability of Oyo State? Is it his high standards in management of public finances? Hon. Ademola, as a member of Oyo State Parliament since 2015, has not only sponsored impactful bills but also moved and seconded several masses-oriented motions. Also, he is creditably, impressively and inspiringly carrying out his oversight functions to the delight of the people of Ibadan Southeast State Constituency II and the Oyo State at large.
I can never reciprocate the love and respect Hon. Ige has for me. I have countless of memorable times with the astute politician but I’ll only mention one. Prior 2015 general elections, the visionary young man never considered me too small in his wide consultations as to whether to remain in PDP to actualise his aspiration to represent his people in the Green Chamber or to get another credible political platform. Hmm… we were under intense pressure to make decisions during that turbulent short period but The Almighty Allah balanced the complex political equation for us. The Supreme God directed Ige to continue his political journey with the Accord Party under which he humbly settled for the Oyo State House of Assembly ticket. Ige was/is a big threat to his opponents; he won the 2015 state assembly election in the face of deadly physical attacks. Alhaji survived death by whiskers but very sadly, his campaign train suffered irredeemable damages from the Pharaohs.
Today, IGE AGAIN is a shinning sun. I am not only proud to be associated with his struggles but also confident to identify with his lofty visions and missions as well as the proudest achievements recorded so far. I hope fellow Nigerian youths emulate the Ibadan-born politician’s commitment to peace, development as well as his magnificent spirit of philanthropy.
My Egbon, as you celebrate your 49th meaningful years of existence on the surface earth tomorrow (February 15th, 2018), may your rising sun never set so soon. May Allah Continue to Guard and Guide you until you reach the apex HE Destined for you. Premature deaths will never be your portions and that of your family members. Warafanau Monkana Aliyah (Ameen).
