The Igbope Community in Orelope Local Government Area of Oyo State has expressed gratitude to the Governor Seyi Makinde-led Oyo State Government and the State House of Assembly for passing the Oyo State Council of Obas Amendment Bill.
The community believes the bill, when assented to by Governor Seyi Makinde, will bring lasting peace and resolution to longstanding issues of traditional leadership supremacy in the area.
In a statement signed by Igbope Community Leader, Deacon George Odejide, on behalf of His Royal Majesty, the Onigbope of Igbope, Oba Dr. Moses Olawale Oyetola Ilufemiloye I, the Chiefs, and the entire community, they commended Governor Makinde for his visionary leadership and commitment to justice and peaceful coexistence.
They also appreciated the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin, and members for their role in enacting the legislation.
The community called on traditional, religious, and political leaders to support the initiative and work together to ensure peace, stability, and mutual respect among all stakeholders.
The Igbope Community believes the passage of the bill is a progressive step towards fostering unity, promoting equity, and strengthening respect for traditional institutions across Oyo State.
The statement read: “The Igbope Community in Orelope Local Government Area of Oyo State extends its profound gratitude to the Government of Oyo State and the Oyo State House of Assembly for the successful passage of the Oyo State Council of Obas Amendment Bill.
“This landmark legislative achievement, when assented to by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, is expected to bring lasting peace and resolution to the longstanding issues of traditional leadership supremacy within Orelope Local Government.
