The Chairman of Ibarapa North Local Government area of Oyo State, Hon Lateef Akorede has received chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Hon Lateef who was reelected in the April 27th local government elections expressed delight while welcoming prominent political figures in Ibarapa North.
In his address, Hon Lateef Akorede promised the defectors level playing field. He stated that the administration will be fair to all.
Among the notable opposition members who Joined the Peoples Democratic Party are, Alihaji Aliu, Former Vice Chairman of the party and an associate of Hon. Ajibola Muraina.
Others include former APC Councilorship aspirants from wards 3, 4, and 5 and 6, who participated in the recent chairmanship and councillorship elections.
Alhaji Aliu, speaking on behalf of the decampees at the ceremony, explained that their decision to join our great party was inspired by the notable achievements of the executive chairman and the exemplary work of our governor, Engineer Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, at the state level, which has significantly benefited Ibarapa North as a whole.
Alhaji Aliu emphasized the commitment of the decampees, including notable figures such as Leaders John Olufemi and Tijani Saminu, to fully support the PDP by contributing their expertise, resources, and influence.
“Their dedication and enthusiasm are highly valued and will undoubtedly help drive our shared vision of progress and development forward.”
During the ceremony, one of the former APC Councilorship aspirants who joined the PDP spoke on behalf of their group, expressed their desire to contribute to the development of Ibarapa by joining forces with the elected councilors. They stated that they wanted to collaborate with the elected officials to bring their visions to fruition and build a better future for the constituents.
