Hon. Lawal Lateef Akorede, Chairman of Ibarapa North, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of Prof. Bidmos Murtala, a distinguished Islamic scholar who passed away on March 4, 2025.

Describing his death as a tremendous loss to Ibarapa North, particularly Ayete, Akorede praised Prof. Bidmos’s works, which showcased Ayete, Ibarapa North, and Oyo State.

Prof. Bidmos was a renowned academic and global authority in Islamic Studies, known for his exceptional teaching and publications that inspired profound thoughts. His demise will be deeply felt by many who benefited from his academic achievements worldwide.

As a scholar, Prof. Bidmos was respected for his in-depth knowledge of Islamic Studies, and his contributions to the field will be remembered for generations to come.

The Chairman eulogized Prof. Bidmos as a consummate patriot, academic icon, and exceptional teacher.

“On behalf of the government and people of Ibarapa North, I commiserate with the family of Prof. Bidmos and the entire Ayete community over the passing of this renowned Islamic scholar and academic giant,” Hon. Akorede said.

He urged those mourning the late professor to find solace in the fact that his published works remain, keeping his legacy alive.

Hon. Akorede prayed for God to grant the professor’s family, Ayete, and Islamic Studies enthusiasts the strength to bear the irreparable loss, noting that his numerous academic achievements will continue to be remembered.

As Chairman of Ibarapa North, Hon. Akorede has been committed to promoting education and Islamic scholarship in the region.

His tribute to Prof. Bidmos reflects the high esteem in which the late professor was held. “Prof. Bidmos was a shining example of academic excellence, and his contributions to Islamic Studies will be remembered for generations to come,” Hon. Akorede said.

He added that the people of Ibarapa North and Ayete community will deeply miss Prof. Bidmos, who was not only an academic giant but also a kind and compassionate individual. He added that his legacy will continue to inspire and motivate future generations of scholars and students.

In conclusion, Hon. Akorede reiterated his condolences to the family of Prof. Bidmos and prayed for God to grant them the strength to bear the loss.

He also urged the people of Ibarapa North to continue to promote education and Islamic scholarship, in line with the legacy of Prof. Bidmos.

In a related development, Dr Abdulhakeem Abdulateef has also condoled with the family of the late professor,

He said in a post on his Facebook account: “May Allah forgive our father Professor Bidmos, the former chief Imam University of Lagos Mosque and grant him Al Jannah fridaus. Aamin”
