The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the last general election for Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Hon Lanre Sarumi, has expressed shock and grief over the unfortunate explosion that took the lives of people and left many injured in Ibadan.
Lanre Sarumi made this known in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday.
The statement reads: “I am profoundly saddened by the tragic news of the recent explosion that happened in Bodija, on Tuesday night.
“My heart goes out to everyone who has been affected by this unfortunate incident. It is a painful moment for us all in Bodija community, and we stand united in grief and solidarity.
“The resilience and unity of the people of Ibadan have always been remarkable, and I do not doubt that together, we will recover from our losses.
“I wish to express my utmost confidence and appreciation in the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde which he has shown by the prompt visitation to the site and providing temporary accommodation for those whose properties were affected.
“HE, Governor Makinde’s leadership is highly commendable for conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances behind this tragedy and assuring the illegal miners responsible for storing explosives in our neighborhood would face the full wrath of the law.
“In the face of adversity, we must remain calm and vigilant. Let us not succumb to fear, but rather, let us be proactive in ensuring the safety of our communities and I implore every citizen of Oyo State to report any suspicious activities to the authorities. Our collective efforts can play a crucial role in preventing such tragedies in the future.
“Let us stand strong together, supporting the victims at this difficult period. To those who have been injured, my heartfelt prayers are with you. For the families who have lost their loved ones, I pray that God grants you the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. May God bless and protect the people of Ibadan and Oyo State.”
