The Ibadan Descendant Sisters Forum (IDSF), an affiliate of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), marked its fourth anniversary on Wednesday with acts of philanthropy, donating 1,000 notebooks to Community Grammar School, Elewura, Ibadan, and providing food items, clothing, detergents, and cash to the Rehabilitation Centre for the Disabled in Moniya, Ibadan.

The donated food items included two bags of garri, rice, beans, and cartons of biscuits and noodles.

At the Rehabilitation Centre, the President of IDSF, Alhaja Ololade Agboola, lauded the staff and management for their dedication to improving the lives of the centre’s residents.

A former Head of Service in Oyo State, Alhaja Agboola emphasised that the forum’s members, being privileged with resources, have a responsibility to support vulnerable groups in society.

“The donations are part of our ongoing commitment to provide succour and hope to people with disabilities,” she said.

Mr. Olalekan Mustapha, Principal of the Rehabilitation Centre, expressed gratitude for the contributions, noting that the support would go a long way in enhancing the welfare of both residents and staff

Earlier in the day , the forum had also donated 1,000 copies of 40-leaf notebooks to students of Community Grammar School, Elewura.

Alhaja Agboola urged the students to take their studies seriously, stressing the importance of good behaviour, diligence, and perseverance in achieving success.

“You are here to learn and build your future. Our forum is giving back to the society because we recognise the value of education in shaping lives. As you grow, remember to give back to the society when you are able,” she advised..

Professor Lanre Abass, a member of the forum, delivered a motivational talk on the anniversary theme, “Reclaiming Values, Restoring Hope,” highlighting the decline in moral values among students.

She encouraged them to cultivate honesty, integrity, responsibility, kindness, and perseverance, linking these virtues to improved academic performance and personal growth.

Mrs Oteniya Romoke, Principal of Community Grammar School and a member of the forum, expressed appreciation for the donations, noting that the exercise books would ease the financial burden on parents and support students’ educational pursuits.

Other notable members of IDSF in attendance included Mrs Bolatito Lanre Abass, Engr. (Mrs) Modinat Oduola, Mrs Adekitan Adeagbo, Mrs Laide Lasisi, Mrs Adejimi Olufolake, Mrs Hauwa Lawal, Dr. (Mrs) Modinat Rufai, Alhaja Faoziah Oluokun, Alhaja Seidat Oloko, Mrs Bola Adeleke, and Mrs Adenike Olatunbosun.

The event highlighted IDSF’s commitment to education, social welfare, and community development, reinforcing its role as a pillar of support for both students and the less privileged in Ibadan.
