Former chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Oyo State chapter, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, a.ka. Auxiliary, on Sunday, said he hardly sleep at home, alleging that some assailants are after him.
The PUNCH reports that the Auxiliary stated this when he addressed newsmen over the weekend.
He said “he had a close shave with death when some gangs he described as ‘uniform men’ laid in ambush for him in Iwo area of Osun State,”according to the report.
He said another gang stormed his hotel at Alakia area in Ibadan to whisk him away to an unknown destination but for the timely intervention of the General Officer Commanding 2 Div, Ojoo, Ibadan.
“I was attacked by a team of policemen at Iwo; it was a day I will never forget in my life. They destroyed all the four tyres of my car, and fired several shots at me.
“But I escaped into a nearby bush after being pursued unsuccessfully,” Auxiliary stated.
“Teams of fully armed policemen came to my hotel twice and on getting to the street where the hotel was located, they started shooting sporadically for minutes. They caused panic and destabilised the residents in the area.
“I would have been killed before now but for the timely intervention of the patrol team of the Operation Bust. I have reported all these to the appropriate authority. In fact, I hardly stay at home since March for fear of attack” PUNCH quoted Auxiliary as saying.
