The Chairman, Oyo State Housing Corporation, Barrister Bayo Lawal has commended the Housing Corporation football club after they defeated Ogbomoso Selected to progress to the final of the Governor Seyi Makinde 2021 Preseason tournament.
The team will face Shooting Stars football club of Ibadan on Tuesday at the newly remodelled Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
Lawal said the corporation was ready to provide all neccessary support to ensure the team win the tournament.
He said: “We deserved to win, the match was difficult because we both had a lot of possession, they defeated at the group but our team spirit and resilience made us to revenge the defeat at this crucial stage.”
“We never lost the hunger, the desire to win, our focus from outset was to have a formidable team, we thank God Almighty because we’re achieving the goals why we decided to have a football club at Housing Corporation. This is a huge performance and well deserved victory. We happy, very, very happy that we achieved this.
” We are ready to provide all the necessary support needed for this football club to thrive and win laurels for Oyo state. In few years time, most of our players would have become international player plying their football trade in foreign leagues in Europe. In tomorrow’s finals against another tough opponent, you must give best. You will be celebrated regardless of tomorrow’s result. The board and management of this corporation will be at the stadium tomorrow to cheer you to victory.”
Also speaking, the state Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon Michael Ogunsina lauded the performance of Housing FC players.
He charged the players to reciprocate the support the team enjoy from the management and board of Oyo Housing Corporation.
He urged the players to remain focus saying that if they continue on this path, it would be a matter of time before national team coaches and foreign scouts will begin to poach them at international level.
