The House of Representatives committee on Host Communities has commended Transcend Construction Limited, a local contractor, for the work done on the Ogoniland cleaning-up project.
The commendation was given by the
Chairman, House Committee on Host
Communities, Rt. Hon. Dumnamene
Dekor at the end of a two-day on-site assessment. The Committee expressed satisfaction with the pace of work on the various projects under construction and the water projects already completed and commissioned for use by the people
The clean-up, which was approved by the federal government for Transcend Construction Limited last year, is aimed at restoring and revitalizing communities impacted by hydrocarbon pollution, with a primary focus on the Ogoniland region.

sites in Ogoni also commended the Project Coordinator, Professor Nenibarini Zabbey on the sustained implementation of the
various projects and programs of
HYPREP to improve the living
condition of the Ogoni people
He added that, the Hydrocarbon
Pollution Remediation Project
(HYPREP) in Ogoniland is delivering on its mandate of cleaning up Ogoniland and restoring the livelihoods of impacted communities as well as providing potable water and building legacy projects that will positively impact the socioeconomic fortunes of the people.
The Contractor, Transcend Construction Limited, is presently handling the Soil and Groundwater Remediation in Kdere and Shoreline clean-up in Bomu Communities under the Gokana Local Govt Area.
Aside from the House of Representatives’s commendation, residents of various communities in Ogoniland are also excited with the local Content employment scheme the Contractor has considered by injecting over 40 indigenous people into their workforce.
