The Candidate of the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, for Ibadan North State Constituency I in the last election, Kamil Omotosho has called on Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to honour the agreement he reached with the political parties that formed the coalition that worked for his victory in the 2019 gubernatorial election in the Pace Setter State.
Omotosho made this call while featuring on a political programme – BOTTOM LINE on IBR 92.5fm Ibadan on Saturday monitored by InsideOyo.com.
He said it is unfortunate that Governor Makinde is yet to reward the efforts of the Zenith Labour Party in ensuring his victory at the poll.
When he was reminded of the inclusion of Barrister Abiodun Abdulraman in the Cabinet of Governor Seyi Makinde as the Commissioner for Lands and Housing, he said the Governor only honoured former Governor Rashidi Ladoja with that slot and that the Commissioner is not representing the ZLP in the incumbent government.
He noted that those who may think that the contribution of the ZLP to Makinde’s success at the polls is nothing to write home about, are only playing to the gallery.
He lamented that if members of the ZLP had foreseen this present attitude of the Governor in power, many of them would not have sacrificed their ambition for the victory of Engineer Seyi Makinde in the election.
“Many of us sacrificed our ambition to support Engineer Seyi Makinde, but what do we have to show for it” he asked.
Speaking further Omotosho said “if truly the Governor recognises former Governor Rashidi Ladoja, he should include members of the ZPL in his Cabinet”. All he has being doing is to promise us but for how long shall we wait?”
“If Baba Ladoja had not instructed us to support Makinde in the election, only God knows what would have happened”.
Justifying his claim, he said apart from the inclusion of Chief Bolaji Ayorinde, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Candidate in the Advisory Council of the government, he pointed out that he has been given another critical role by the Governor whereas, members of the ZLP are yet to get any.
Contrary to insinuations that the Gubernatorial Candidadte of the Zenith Labour Party in the March 9 governorship Candidate, Barrister Sharafadeen Alli does not attend the meetings of the Advisory Council set up by Governor Makinde, Omotosho said he attends state functions whenever he is invited.
He said all that Zenith Labour Party wants is an inclusion in the government of Governor Seyi Makinde as its members are ready to contribute their quota to governance in the state.
