As Nigerians join other Muslim Ummah across the globe in marking the commencement of the Islamic New Year, 1445 AH, a Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state, Dr Kazeem Adesina Abidikugu has felicitated with Muslim Ummah on Wednesday, urging them to continue praying for the peaceful coexistence of the country.
Abidikugu, Nigerian UK based psychiatric consultant in a statement signed personally by himself and made available to journalists via mail, said it was appropriate to use the occasion to thank the Almighty Allah for the privilege He mercifully granted us to witness the New year.
Abidikugu, who was an aspirant for Ibadan south east/north east federal constituency under the platform of the PDP, noted that it was a rare privilege for all the living beings to witness the New Hijrah calendar year.
According to him, “This is a privilege for us as individuals and as a community of the Faithful and deserves our gratitude to Allah.
“As we begin the New Year, I enjoin all of us not to relent in living in accordance with the injunctions of our Faith and in our prayers for peace in our country and the world over.
“We should continue to fervently seek the intervention of Allah in our affairs as we seek end to the challenges facing our country at this present situation.
“We urge our leaders to continue to work to make our country better for all its people and to leave an enduring legacy for future generations.
“We appeal to them to always strive to meet the expectations on the masses particularly in this trying time of increment in the pump price of premium motor spirit popularly known as petrol just as I wishes fellow Muslims a happy, peaceful and prosperous New Year”.
