Global Harvest Church has announced plans for the eighth edition of its annual gospel gathering, Celebrate Jesus 8.0, scheduled to hold on January 16 at the Liberty Stadium, Oke Ado, Ibadan.
Speaking at a press conference in Ibadan, the Founder and Senior Pastor of Global Harvest Church, Pastor Victor Adeyemi, described the event as a vision that has grown steadily over the years.
Pastor Adeyemi recalled that the first edition of Celebrate Jesus was hosted within the church auditorium, but noted that the programme has since expanded beyond its humble beginnings to become a citywide, and now regional, gathering.
According to him, the core mission of the event is soul winning and drawing people to Christ, while creating an atmosphere of love, joy, and unity.
“We are where we are today because of the thoughts of our hearts, the programme is rooted in values of humanity, compassion, and shared responsibility. Thousands of people will turn to Christ, and through that, we believe Ibadan will experience joy and renewal.” he said.
Founder of Global Harvest says the 2026 edition would deliver messages of hope, reassuring participants that God remains committed to restoring confidence and purpose in the lives of individuals and communities.
Pastor Adeyemi also disclosed that a special prayer session would be held for the nation, with a focus on unity, leadership, and the emergence of leaders with integrity and vision.
“We will pray for leaders who will lead rightly and for candidates who will emerge with a genuine heart for service,” he said.
Addressing safety concerns, he assured the public that adequate security and emergency arrangements have been put in place.
Pastor Victor Adeyemi confirmed that personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps will be on ground throughout the event.
He added that health workers, first aid units, ambulances, and medical response teams would also be available to ensure the safety and wellbeing of participants.
Speaking on national issues, Founder and Senior Pastor of Global Harvest Church said Nigeria is undergoing change and that a new generation of citizens is emerging, one that cannot be compromised or bought.
He warned political leaders that money spent during elections would not guarantee continued access to power, urging them instead to focus on addressing insecurity and economic hardship.
While commending the Federal Government for taking what he described as bold economic decisions, he noted that the average Nigerian is yet to fully feel the impact of the reforms.
He called for people-centred policies that directly improve the lives of ordinary citizens.
He also urged young people to actively participate in politics, beginning at the ward level, and encouraged them to register for their Permanent Voter Cards and vote, stressing that every vote now counts.
Several gospel artistes are expected to minister at Celebrate Jesus 8.0, including BBO, Dare Justified, Bunche, and others. The organisers also announced that free buses would convey participants from various locations across the city to the Liberty Stadium.
