Kano state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has urged the political class to work very hard and leave behind enduring legacies that would outlast them.
Governor Ganduje spoke while laying the foundations of Senator Abiola Ajimobi Resource Centre at the Institute of Peace and Strategic Studies (IPSS), University of Ibadan.
The ceremony was part of the 3rd Annual Abiola Ajimobi Roundtable and 71st Posthumous birthday with the Foundation collaborating with IPSS to immortalize the name of the former Oyo state Governor.
Governor Ganduje who extolled the virtues of the late politician remarked that Senator Ajimobi believed in good governance and sustainable development, pointing out that the edifice would immortalize the name of the late politician.
The Kano state Governor who described his coming to the University of Ibadan as home coming recalled his days in UI while running his Ph.D programme restating that Senator Ajimobi believed so much in service to humanity.
In his own remarks, the UI Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adebola Babatunde Ekanola noted that the foundations laying ceremony was an important step in immortalizing the name and ideals of Senator Ajimobi.
According to the Acting VC, ‘as long as UI exists, this resource Centre will continue to immortalize the name of Senator Ajimobi. It is certain that the family and the Foundation will not allow the name to be forgotten ‘
Earlier, the President of the Senator Abiola Ajimobi Foundation (SAAF), Dr. (Mrs) Florence Ajimobi promised that the edifice would be completed within a year, disclosing that it has not been easy since her husband passed on.
Among those at the ceremony were the UI Registrar, Mrs. Olubunmi Faluyi, Director of IPPS, Prof. Tajudeen Akanji among others.
