It was learnt that the road was first constructed during the administration of the immediate past governor, Abiola Ajimobi.

Our correspondent however gathered that the road is currently in bad condition and is making it difficult for motorists and commuters to ply.

Our correspondent also gathered that the road is serving over 50 communities and over 250,000 inhabitants.

A resident identified as Mr Dolapo Ajao who spoke with journalists noted that the deplorable condition of the road is affecting the social and economic life of the residents of the communities negatively.

He said that several efforts have been made to ensure that the government come to the aid but to no avail.

He added that the road is now a source of worry for the residents especially during the rainy season.

“As you can see, this is the road. The road is in a bad condition. We are facing a lot of challenges on this road especially during the raining season. The road is always impassable. Economic activities are being affected.

“In fact some residents have abandoned their houses as a result of bad road. We have over 250,000 people in these communities”.

Another resident, Mrs Iyabode Aina said that some youths and some communities and individuals have made several efforts to ameliorate the suffering of the people.

She used the opportunity to appeal to the state government to ensure that the reconstruction begin in earnest.

“Few years ago, some youths in the communities came together to task other members of the communities and made efforts to reduce the suffering. Also some communities have also made efforts to reduce the hardship we are facing on this road. About two years ago they graded the road and fill the road to reduce the hardship. That was two years ago.

“When Alhaji Taofeek Oyerinde, former NURTW Chairman was alive, he used to grade this road and support the community but this has stopped since he died. The road is in bad condition as you can see it by yourself”.

Mr Kolade Adeoye in his own contribution, appeal to the governor to fulfill his promise.

He said that the people of the communities are expecting the governor to fulfill his promise on time.

“We are appealing to the governor to fulfill his promise. He made a promise when he came to commission the health centre sometime ago. He promised that he will reconstruct the road. We are waiting for him to fulfill his promise before the next general elections.
