The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji on Monday asked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Oyo state, Engineer Seyi Makinde to fulfil all his election campaign promises if elected the next governor of Oyo state.
New Nigerian Newspaper reports that Speaking through Chief Lekan Alabi while receiving the Seyi Makinde 2019 campaign team into his Popoyemoja palace during the governorship candidate tour of Ibadan South West local government, Oba Adetunji also urged Engineer Makinde to ensure
his campaign remains violent fre.
The royal father emphasized that there is the need for all the politicians in and across Oyo state to eschew violence in their campaigns , saying, “the kabiyesi is appealing to all politicians to eschew violence and ensured that you fulfill your promises when elected.”
“This is only way that we can develop Ibadan and the state.For the electorates, Kabiyesi counsel that you vote your conscience and never sell your votes.” he said.
The PDP governorship candidate while speaking disclosed that he is in the palace of the Olubadan “to seek his support, knowing fully well that all candidates seeking governorship seat are Olubadan’s children.” adding, ” but sir, I want to tell you that some of your children are more dear to you.” he said
Engineer Makinde while stressing that PDP is determined to restructure Nigeria at the centre to proffer solution to Nigeria’s perennial challenges presented all PDP candidates to Oba Adetunji who later prayed for Engineer Makinde and other PDP candidates.
The PDP campaign team later visited the Molete house of late former leader of the party in the state, Chief Lamidi Adedibu and the Aleshinloye market where traders trooped out to welcome and cheers the campaign as he made a grand entry into the market. Makinde then assured the traders who came in large numbers of his administration’s human and developmental policies that will improve economy at the grassroots.
Engineer Makinde was accompanied to Olubadan palace by the PDP chairman in Oyo state, Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha, deputy governor candidate, Raufu Olaniyan, Director General campaign team, Chief Bayo Lawal, Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola, Alhaja Bose Adedibu, Dr Nureni Adeniran, Mogaji Iba family, Chief Waheed, Alhaji Adebisi Olopoenia, House of Representatives candidate for Ibadan South West/North West, Mr Stanley Olajide among others.
