In a bid to promote a safer and more equitable society, the First Lady of Ibarapa North Local Government, Mrs Rukayat Olapeju Lawal, has embarked on a campaign against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in the local government area.
Mrs Lawal, accompanied by other women in the community, visited several schools, including Ayete Grammar School, Baptist High School, Angel Height College, and others.
She also extended her campaign to various quarters and markets in the area, including Iwafin Quarter, Malete Quarter, Oke-Ogun Quarter, and Ajise Market.
During her visits, Mrs Lawal interacted with students, community leaders, and market women, sensitizing them on the dangers of GBV and the importance of promoting a culture of respect and equality.
She emphasized the need for collective action to prevent and respond to GBV, and encouraged everyone to play a role in creating a safer and more supportive community.
She commended the First Lady of Oyo state, Engr. Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde for her efforts.
She announced the existence of a Justice and Safety Authority for women who experience GBV.
She also mentioned the Response Care Support System, which is available through the Office of the First Lady of Oyo State, Engr. Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde.
The campaign, which is part of Mrs Lawal’s efforts to promote the well-being and empowerment of women and girls in Ibarapa North Local Government, has been well-received by the community. It is expected to contribute to a reduction in GBV cases in the area and promote a culture of respect and equality for all.
