A former caretaker chairman of Atiba local government, Hon Ibrahim Akinkunmi has led hundreds of members of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP to the All Progressives, APC.
Akinkunmi who was the PDP House Assembly Candidate in 2019 general elections attended the meeting of the APC on Sunday in Oyo town.
He was welcomed by Hon. Prince Akeem Adeniyi Adeyemi, Rt. Hon. Asimiyu Alarape, Hon. Ademola Adelowo (Atiba APC Chairman) Alhaji Tajudeen Olanite (Secretary APC Oyo State), other Party Leaders, excos and members.
With his defection, the chances of the All Progressives Congress, APC to win the 2023 general elections have been boosted.
Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has welcomed the former council chairman.
Folarin in a post on his social media pages said both new and old members of the party has the same right.
It read: “Again, the progressive party in Oyo State has just gained hundreds of new members from the ruling PDP.
“The defection plan was perfected few days ago and it materialised yesterday.
“Hon. Ibrahim Akinkunmi, the immediate past chairman of Atiba LGA led the new defectors into our great party.
“As I always say, no new and old members in our party. All members have equal stakes and opportunities.”
