The activities marking the 60th birthday celebration of the Senator representing Oyo Central senatorial district, Alhaja Monsurat Sunmonu have been brought to a close with celebration and fanfares.
The climax of the auspicious ceremony of the 7th Oyo State House of Assembly Speaker, a symposium themed “Celebrating Quintessence of a Heroine ” was held on Tuesday at at an event center in Ibadan.
The cocktail party which was predominantly featured by lecture and prayers was graced by massive crowd among whom were families, friends and political associates of the celebrated legislator across the length and breath of the state.
Enlivening the event with the recitation the celebrant’s biography, Hon. Kehinde Ayoola, the pioneer Speaker of the fourth Oyo State Assembly and a confidant of the Governor-Elect, Engr. Seyi Makinde, in his view saluted the gallantry styles and all round developmental inputs of the Senator representing Oyo Senatorial district.
In his sermon, Alh. Habibullah Buhari, the Chief Imam Akobo Central Mosque implored the privileged personalities to be kind and generous towards the humanitarian tasks with their wealth and influence.
The Islamic scholar enjoyed the political office occupants to be more alive in identifying with and ameliorating the sufferings of the vulnerable ones to curb the prevailing agonies among the downtrodden in our society.
Imam Buhari extolled the virtues of the celebrant whom he described as a devout Muslimah and magnanimous helper of umpteen disadvantaged Oyo State residents during her speakership and present office as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He, in conclusion led the congregation in prayer for the celebrant who is reported to be in far away Saudi Arabia for a lesser Hajj.
Speaking at the gathering, the chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Sulaimon Ajibade eulogized Senator Sunmonu as a hope lifter and broad shield which resilient progressive political players in the state seek refuge in.
Alhaji Nurein Sunmonu, a biological brother of the celebrant who was supported by the likes of Hon. Segun Olaleye Radical, Asiwaju Yemi Aderibigbe, Ayaba (Barr.) Moji Adeyemi, Mogaji Abass Oloko and a host others in the ceremony carolled the goodnesses of the first female elected senator in Oyo State as undiluted.
The fun filled bash had in attendance prominent leaders, serving and former State and National Assembly members among whom are Alhaji Lawal Adigun, Alhaji Rasaq Akilapa, Alhaja Oluwonran, Alh. Saheed Alaran, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, Alhaji Yinka Olona, Hon. Saheed Badmus, Hon. Ganiyu Ayesoro, Alhaji Ladi Oluokun, Alh Wasiu Adeyemo, Alh Anibire,many ward, local and state executive officers and teeming members of the African Democratic Congress, ADC across the 33 local government areas of the state.
