Few days to the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir, Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly Olagunju Ojo has urged Muslims, especially Nigerians pilgrims in Mecca, to pray for the success of the 2019 general elections.
Ojo gave the advice in his message to mark the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir, signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Yemi Alao on Friday in Ibadan.
He also called on Muslims to ask for Allah’s infinite mercy and guidance for the state and its leaders as they steered the affairs of the state.
According to him, the exemplary virtues of sacrifice, obedience, steadfastness and generosity, typified by Prophet Ibrahim should not be lost to the pageantry that would accompany the festival.
The speaker reassured the people of the state of the commitment of the legislature to the onerous task of moving the state to greater heights.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Federal Government has declared August 21 and August 22 as public holidays to celebrate the festival.
The Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, made the declaration on Thursday in Abuja in a statement issued by Dr Mohammed Umar, the Permanent Secretary at the ministry.
