Senator Olufemi Lanlehin (Solan) has congratulated Christians all over Nigeria, and those in Oyo State particularly, on the commemoration of this year’s Easter.
Lanlehin, in a message from his Media Bureau in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, charged Christians to continually remember and consciously emulate the love for humanity displayed by the Lord Jesus Christ, exemplified in His dying for the sins of mankind to save her from eternal damnation, bring her to peace with God and grant her eternal life.
“Such love, the highest available anywhere, can be replicated by humans when they consider not only their own comfort, but also those of others, before taking any action,” Lanlehin noted.
Easter, a prominent holiday in the Christian calendar commemorates the suffering, trial, death and subsequent resurrection of Jesus Christ, and is often preceded by Lent, a 40-day period of fasting, prayer and penance.
Senator Lanlehin, who represented Oyo South Senatorial District between 2011 and 2015 also called on Christians to continually be their brother’s keeper, show empathy and compassion, attributes which according to him, are the fulcrum of Christ’s sacrifice for humanity.
Lanlehin, chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) reminded Christians that to love is to forgive, hence, they should do away with all feelings and emotions of hurt, but should, in the spirit of the time, exhibit renewed commitment to living a life that benefits humanity.
While urging Christians to keep praying for Nigeria so she can surmount the multitude of problems besetting her, Senator Lanlehin noted that since development can only abound in an atmosphere of peace, it behoves on Christians to intensify prayers for a change of fortune for Nigeria, their beloved motherland. “If there’s a time to pray for Nigeria, now it is,” Lanlehin said.
Senator Olufemi Lanlehin (Solan) consequently wishes Christians many more Easters in good health and abundant wealth, and Nigeria, peace, progress and prosperity.
