A former governorship aspirant on the platform of the Accord Party, Dr. Abideen Olaiya, has explained why he dumped the Party to join the Action Democratic Party (ADP).
Olaiya revealed that the decision was necessary following the series of irregularities that were involved in the party primaries in Oyo state which includes what he described as him being “robbed by tiny political gladiators” in Accord Party where he stood as a gubernatorial aspirant.
This was contained in a press statement signed by Olaiya on Saturday.
Recall that insideOYO.com had earlier reported that the governorship candidate of the ADP, Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala had announced Olaiya as his running mate.
Olaiya alleged that “the journey came with several unpalatable revelations including the sale of fake membership card to all party members in the state by the National Secretary of the party, Hon. Adebukola Ajaja.”
He noted that he petitioned the National Headquarters of Accord Party after which assurances were given by the National Executives of the party to look into the petitions and do the needful but nothing was done several days after the petition was submitted.
In his words; “As we all know, 24 hours is a long time in the political calendar, I have waited for about 144 hours but their response till now remains a mirage. Having gathered great political experience over the years, we understand the concept of delay tactics in politics and that is why we have open our doors to various options to safe our struggle.”
“Many political parties have approached me to come and flag their gubernatorial ticket while some have come to request for a joint force. But, I believe many people have faith in our struggle and the sincerity about our campaign for good governance, hence no one was responded to assertively.”
