The six staff of the Distance Learning Centre (DLC) of the University of Ibadan who were arrested for examination fraud by the Department of State Security (DSS) have been released on administrative bail.
In a report by NAN, the director of the centre, Prof. Oyesoji Aremu, on Tuesday said that the university was awaiting the report of the DSS which will be used by the disciplinary committee set up by the institution.
He doubted if the suspects succeeded in assisting some students progress or graduate fraudulently, saying the layers of the result processing procedure of the university would prevent such.
He also said a committee called UIDLC ICT Homegrown Committee, was set up last week to fully take control of its IT-related activities.
The DSS had arrested the suspects following petitions written against them.
They suspect were accused of several offenses including smuggling scripts to students during examinations, fabricating Computer Based Test results and falsifying clearance for students who are not qualified for it.
The UI ASUU on Tuesday denounced them as its members, saying they are non-academic staff of the Institute.
