Honourable Abass Adigun, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ibadan North-East/Ibadan South-East Federal Constituency, has advised the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bayo Adelabu, to join hand with Governor Seyi Makinde in moving Oyo State forward.
Adigun, who is a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) federal lawmaker, said this while congratulating Governor Makinde on the affirmation of his victory by the election petition tribunal.
The lawmaker said Adelabu, rather than going to the Appeal Court to test the judgment of the tribunal, ought to support Makinde’s “revolutionary and people-oriented governance currently going on in the state.”
“The noble thing for Adelabu to do now is to take a deep reflection on the judgment and see it a confirmation of the ‘electoral revolution’ carried out by the people of the state on March 9. That election was so clearly won by Makinde.
“Since coming on board, Governor Makinde has shown himself to be a people’s governor by removing the barriers of school fee in public schools, shooting up enrolment figure in school and reducing the number of out-of-school kids roaming our streets. Before the advent of the current administration of Makinde, Oyo had the highest number of such kids.
“The governor has been rightly and deservedly nicknamed Baba 25 by the civil servants for the prompt payment of their salaries. Pensioners get their pension paid timeously too. Retirees recently got N1.4billion gratuity owed by the last government. Adeoyo Hospital, in just 100 days in office, has been given a kiss of life by the governor.
“Under Governor Makinde, Oyo State is working and the people of the state are in for a jolly ride as he dishes out more form his goodie bag of good policies.
“But should Chief Adelabu ignore this patriotic call on him to support Makinde and decides to go on appeal, Makinde and PDP are ready to defend the mandate freely and overwhelmingly given to them by the people of the state,” Adigun said.
