Oyo state has recorded 38 new infections as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 1,354 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19 on Tuesday.
The figure broke the previous daily record — the 1,204 new infections recorded on Monday.
The figure also shows that infections have continued to soar across the country.
The NCDC, in its daily update on Tuesday, disclosed that 697 recoveries were recorded.
On Tuesday, Minister of State for Health, Dr. Olorunnimbe Mamora, advised Nigerians to adhere strictly to safety guidelines to curtail the spread of COVID-19.
He knocked Nigerians who are still denying the existence of COVID-19.
The Centre said the recoveries include 324 community recoveries in Lagos State and 137 community recoveries in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) managed in line with guidelines.
There was one new death recorded across the country.
20 states and the FCT reported new cases on Tuesday.
Lagos reported a record 712 new infections while the FCT reported 145.
Also, Plateau State recorded 117 new cases while Kwara State recorded 81 new cases.
Equally, Kaduna State reported 54 new infections while Sokoto State reported 39.
Others are from Rivers-36, Gombe-21, Enugu-20, Akwa Ibom-16, Bauchi-14, Delta-14, Ebonyi-13, Anambra-9, Taraba-8, Edo-8, Kano-3, Osun-2, Ekiti-2, and Ogun-1
As of Tuesday night, Nigeria’s total number of confirmed cases stood at 92,705.
While 76,396 patients have recovered, 1,319 fatalities have been recorded.
