The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, has commiserated with President Muhammadu Buhari over the death of his Chief of Staff, Abba Kiyari’.
In a release made available today by the Monarch’s Chief Press Officer, Bode Durojaiye, Oba Adeyemi III described the deceased as a detribalised, dedicated, hardworking and committed top government functionary whose love for the country is worthy of emulation.
He said Nigerians would continue to remember the late Chief of Staff for his steadfastness, uprightness and unity of purpose.
The Paramount Ruler who used the occasion to appeal to Nigerians to eschew vortex of cynism on the global pandemic, COVID-19, adding that the virus is real and no respecter of age, creed, religion or ethnicity.
He said “I urge all and sundry not to disregard and disobey all rules and regulations laid down by both State and the Federal Governments, but to strictly abide by them. Corona virus is real, though not a death sentence, but timely detection and cure saves lives”.
The royal father also sympathised with the deceased family, the Kanuri tribe and the people of Borno State and all who have lost their lives as a result of the pandemic as he prayed Allah, God, Olodunare to grant the souls of the departed including late Chief of Staff eternal rest.
