The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) conferred the “Most Outstanding Friend of Ibadanland” (MOFI) award on Agbaakin Benedict Akika at the 2024 Fellowship Awards during the Ibadan Cultural Week Festival.
The event took place at the Ibadan Civil Centre, Idi-Ape, Iwo Road, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
“We are proud to recognize individuals who have significantly contributed to the growth and harmony of our community,” said Barr. Chief Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole, President General of CCII, in his welcome address.
“Today, we honor those who have demonstrated unwavering commitment to the development and unity of Ibadanland. This occasion showcases our shared values and collective efforts.”
“The awards are not just accolades; they are symbols of our appreciation for those who contribute selflessly to our community,” said Balogun Gaphar Ojetola, Chairman of the 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival Planning Committee (IBCFPC). “It’s our way of acknowledging their dedication and inspiring others to follow their exemplary path.”
Agbaakin Benedict Akika, the awardee, expressed his gratitude upon receiving the MOFI award.
“This honor is deeply humbling. It reinforces my commitment to continue serving and supporting the great people of Ibadan, despite not being from Ibadan. I am profoundly grateful,” Akika stated.
“I feel a deep connection to this community and will continue to work towards its progress and development.”
“Agbaakin Benedict Akika has been a pillar of support and a true friend to Ibadanland. His dedication is exemplary, and we are proud to honor him today,” said Adebo Edward Ogundoyin, Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly.
Other distinguished awardees included Engr. Major Rasaki Salawu, Prof. Isiaka Kolawole, Pharm. Yekini Lasun Adeniran, Prof. Remi Raji Oyelade, and Prof. Musa Aibinu, all recognized as Most Patriotic Ibadan Indigenes (MOPII).
Additionally, Alhaja Kuburat Owoola, Mogaji Isola Olorode, Mogaji Fadeke Idiat Lawal, and the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State ILE BADAN received the Distinguished Fellows Award.
