Oyo Assembly Marks 3rd Anniversary With 36 Laws, 276 Resolutions Passed

The South West Director-General of the Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign Organisation, Chief Olusola Oke (SAN), on Friday declared that President Muhammadu Buhari is implementing the philosophy of former Premier of the defunct Western Region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

Oke while addressing journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital at the South West zonal campaign office of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), declared that “Buhari is currently implementing the philosophy of Awolowo which is based on accountability, transparency and integrity”.

He said that the Yorubas should be proud of Buhari for several reasons.

Oke who flanked with the South West zonal secretary of APC, Chief Ayo Afolabi while speaking on tomorrow’s (Saturday) visit of President Buhari to Osun and Oyo states as part of his (Buhari) re-election bid, maintained that Buhari has done well for the region hence, people of the region should reciprocate by re-electing him in the February 16th Presidential election.

He said that his kinsmen should be proud of Buhari in many ways; first, for implementing Awolowo’s philosophy, second, for recognising Chief MKO Abiola as winner of the June 12th 1993 Presidential election as former President and thirdly, for appointing South Westerners as key ministers.

Oke, while urging South West to continue to support the aspiration of Buhari and his Vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo added that it is in the record that the South West played a major role in the emergence of the present administration.

He remarked that the South West will enjoy more if they support the present administration after the re-election of Buhari and Osinbajo.

Oke said, “This press briefing is necessary to remind you and the people of the South West of the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to Osun and Oyo states tomorrow. As you are aware, the President has been visiting other states to campaign and it has been overwhelming turn out.

“But, because of the place of South West, because of the roles the South West played in the emergence of this administration, the President is coming to Osun and Oyo states to campaign. How APC became a party is not at the back of a Yoruba, our leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

“So, what Buhari is doing is in consonant with the philosophy of Awolowo and Yoruba people, that public resources must be used in a transparent way. Buhari philosophy is in consonant with the Awolowo philosophy of accountability, transparency and integrity. He is implementing the philosophy of Awolowo already. Awolowo has a philosophy that the public resources must be accounted for. He has a philosophy of transparency and integrity and that is what Buhari is implementing.

“Buhari gave the South West key ministers, he gave us the ministers of Communications, Finance, Mineral resources, Health and above all the Minister of Works, Power and Housing. The three in one minister is enough for one region and he gave the South West. And all we want is to sustain those positions.
“The introduction of the TSA, he gave employment to graduates and his is laying them salaries. So, Buhari has taken Nigeria to the next level.

“Again, the Yoruba must be proud of President Buhari because he acknowledged that Chief MKO Abiola won the 1993 presidential election, not only that he won the election, he also acknowledged him as a former President who was not swore in.  Yoruba must be proud of Buhari.

“Not many believe he could win the 2015 election and since he has won we must not be seen at the back. And we are proud of Yoruba man as his Vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo. We want them to continue. We have the opportunity to sustain our leadership position. We remain at the centre”.
