Seun Onigbinde, co-founder of the civic-tech organisation, BudgIT, visited several locations in Oyo North local government and some of his findings were made known in a series of tweets.
The Ogbomoso-born expert asked the residents and elders of their most pressing needs as well as government activities in the areas.
In a local government, no one was on ground to meet the visitor as the offices were empty.
“My Oyo State North Tour begins. A drive around town and visit to LAUTECH. This trip is a learning experience. Igbeti – Igboho – Saki – Kisi – Ago Amodu – Tede – Iwere Ile – Iseyin,” he tweeted.
Here are some his findings:
It has been an amazing tour. A drive around Iseyin today and that ends a three-day trip.
I apologise for all those who requested a meet-up and couldn't happen. #OyoNorthTour

Battery was low in Iwere-Ile and I could barely get a picture. I missed someone. We planned to sleep in Okeho but didn't work out.
We had to make our way back to Iseyin. Still another problem to get a decent hotel. We are in a royal suite, 7k per night. pic.twitter.com/WcwybRveD3

Life was fascinating until we go to the terrible road between Okeho on the way to Iganna & Iwere-ile.
Everyone wants something to boost their economy. We did Ilero & Okeho twice, passing there again on our exit to Iseyin. pic.twitter.com/RgzTfz5o2z

I was fascinated with the architectural pieces of Baptist Churches in Ago Amodu, Tede and Otu.
A fascinating trip. #OyoNorthTour pic.twitter.com/Djx5gDvBBV

An amazing time in Igboho. Tobacco leaf is the big business here but the strenuous work still leaves them in poverty.
C&S Founder is from Igboho. Just asking why BAT factory isn't here and why hospitals are in crisis. Their needs aren't different. Fair sourcing & factories. pic.twitter.com/sdtS1lLO7G

We are now in Kisi. Classic buildings. I had conversations and it's the same issues.
Poverty is rife, need for economic boost through tertiary institutions & industries, poor healthcare facility and bad roads. #OyoNorthTour
Next is Igboho. pic.twitter.com/qbBjzkk4aX

Igbeti. Folks talk about youth unemployment and lack of industries. A lot of regret on how marble business boomed but almost nothing happening right now.
They won't mind a tertiary institution & also access to quality healthcare and water. #OyoNorthTour pic.twitter.com/F9Jkn48wYE

Today's tour ends in Igbeti. Great landscape. Biggest catfish you can imagine was served.
Learnt a lot listening to the people. #OyoNorthTour pic.twitter.com/VxNyICIREe

I met elders in Ikoyi-ile and they had three critical needs:
1. Siting of a tertiary institution
2. Water
3. Rural Access Roads. #OyoNorthTour pic.twitter.com/DscVF4rfZk— Olúṣeun Onígbindé (@seunonigbinde) August 6, 2018
Orire Local Government Health Center. A lot of gaps in our society. #OyoNorthTour
