Borrusia Dortmund Forward, Karim Adeyemi on the 6th of June 2024 awarded Scholarships to 10 students from three (3) schools in Ibadan through an annual essay competition organised by his foundation, Karim Adeyemi Foundation to mark the International Day of Sports for Development and Peace, a United Nations recognised day.
This year’s event saw seven finalists schools including Oladipo Alayande School of Science, St. Louis Grammar School, and Queens School Apata taking prizes worth eight hundred thousand naira ₦800,000 Naira home, which is set to cover all their SSCE and Jamb exams and give them a soft landing into an higher institution of their choice.
Speaking at the event, the President of Karim Adeyemi Foundation Abiodun Adeyemi said the foundation is positioning to use the celebration of IDSDP as a strong tool in supporting education and translating it to peace education and development in tandem with the global theme and celebration of the event. He added that observations from the students through the participants of the second edition of the award as pointed out by the judges is a reflection of all involved particularly duty bearers as conveyors of tools for student’s productivity”.
The Foundation continued its tradition of opening accounts for the beneficiaries patnering with Polaris Bank such that scholarships are deposited into the accounts co-signed by their parents.
Karim Adeyemi Foundation IDSDP Awards is a unique initiative celebrating the unifying power of sports and its pivotal role in promoting peace and inclusivity through an annual essay competition among public secondary schools in Oyo state.
The 2024 edition drew participants from schools across Oyo State: Oladipo Alayande School of Science, St. Louis Grammar School, Government College Ibadan, Queens School Apata, Ode Aje Ajibola Aremo High School, Loyola College Ibadan, Oba Adeyemi High School, Ogbomosho High School, Ibadan High School, Oke – Ado High School and Ikolaba High School, and others, while only seven schools made it to the final stages of thr competition.
Dignitaries present at this year’s award ceremony included Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, and Senior Special Assistant to the Oyo State Governor on Student Affairs, Tobi Oyewunmi, among others.
