The Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria, FOMWAN Oyo State chapter has called for behavioral and environmental changes amongst Nigerians irrespective of ages, statuses, tribes and religions.
This, according to the Association will help in repositioning the nation for all round development and also ensure good moral and ethical practices amongst the citizenry.
The Oyo State Amirah of FOMWAN, Alhaja B.B Oloso stated this at a Press Conference in Ibadan to herald the 2022 Week of the Association.
The Oyo Amirah who said the week provides opportunity for the Associatifon at all levels, National, State, Zonal and Local Government to reassess its achievements, strengths and weaknesses to be able to impact more on the community with her programs.
Alhaja Oloso noted that except Nigerians desist from some unholy behaviors and practices which continue to have negative impacts on the nation, its people and environment , the country will remain backward, undeveloped and crisis-ridden.
” I congratulate FOMWAN in general, the Oyo State Executive members, Zonal Coordinators, Local Government Amirahs, all Affiliate Amirahs and the entire members of FOMWAN in Oyo State on the occasion of the year 2022 FOMWAN WEEK.
May Allah grant us the opportunity of observing many more of it with His abundant Rahmah, sound health and ãffiyah. May He (SWT) accept our contributions toward the success of all the programs of the week as acts of ibaadah. “
She hinted that the celebration will feature advocacy visit to Local Government Chairmen, Community Heads and leaders of other public places on the dangers of open defecation, and the call for a renewed vigor to tackle the various behavioral and environmental maladies of religious intolerance, gender-badsed violence, tribal bigotry, ritual killing, cyber crime and all other forms of insecurity;
According to her, members will also embark on operation clean up of some identified defecated sites including markets, hospitals, recreation centers, garages and others.
Alhaja Oloso added that as a humanitarian faith-based organization, other days of the celebration will feature visit to correctional centers, remand homes, orphanages and hospitals where gifts will be presented to the people there.
” In Oyo State what started as FOMWAN’s first project was the Motherless home which today has, alhamdulillah grown into an Orphanage with a charity segment that offers shelter for rescued children brought in by the government while other projects in Oyo State FOMWAN have moved over the years to being more and more of a blessing for children, women, and the ummah at large
” During the 2022 Ramadan FOMWAN empowered 2 males, (a blind man and an undergraduate student), 2 female secondary school students and 11 women – aside from those others who have benefitted before Ramadan.
To ensure women’s health during and after Ramadan, Oyo FOMWAN collabotated with AR Medical Laboratory for pre-Ramadam medical checkup for women only and different tests such as include Full Blood Count, HIV, Hepatitis B&C, Syphilis, Liver Function, Kidney Function, Body Electrolyte, Fasting Blood Sugar, Total Cholesterol, Urine M/C/S and Stool Microscopy were cobducted. That is not to mention our various Da’wah activities which include Quran teaching and learning, Quran recitations by members, memorization, Madrasa arrangements for young and old and “Da’wah-on-air”.

While saying that the 7day celebration will be rounded off in all LGAs of Oyo State with visits to schools where they will meet with Principals, teachers, School Based Managements, Committee members and school children , the Oyo Amirah stressed that the visit would help to disseminate the message of this year’s theme to every nook and cranny of the state through the students.
