To cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal in Oyo State, the state government, through the office of the Babaloja General of Oyo State, Asiwaju Yekeen Abass, distributed 250 bags of 50kg maize and 25kg of cassava flakes to market leaders’ council for their members.
The distribution of the palliative was witnessed by the representative of the state Ministry of Commerce, Trade, and Industry.
Addressing the leaders of the 12 cluster groups, the first Babaloja General in Oyo State, Asiwaju YK Abass, said this is the first time the government has extended such a gesture to traders in the state.
He added that, although the Federal Government sponsored the initiative, traders were grateful to Governor Seyi Makinde and Acting Governor Barrister Bayo Lawal for considering them worthy of inclusion.
Asiwaju YK Abass urged market leaders to maintain peace and unity to enjoy more benefits from Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration.
The representative of the state Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Olanrewaju Olawale, expressed the ministry’s happiness with the coming together of market groups and encouraged them to maintain the accord to enjoy more benefits from the state government.
Leaders of the 12 cluster groups, including Chief Dauda Oladepo and Mogaji Salaudeen, thanked the state government for remembering traders while receiving the maize and cassava flakes.
Others who spoke at the event, including NANT leader Mrs. Aderonke Adedoja and Chief Labake Lawal, praised the unity among traders in Oyo State under the leadership of Babaloja General of Oyo State, Asiwaju Yekeen Abass.
Each cluster group received 15 bags (50kg) of maize and 3 bags (25kg) of cassava flakes.
