The Chairman of ATISBO Local Government Area of Oyo State, Alhaji Bashir Olumuyiwa Alade, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for creating the Amotekun Agro Rangers to address security challenges faced by local government areas in the state with border lines.
He made the commendation while participating in a conference titled “Cross-Border Cooperation Frameworks in Batonu, Boo, and Yoruba Linguistic Areas” in Parakou, Benin Republic.
His words: “The creation of the Amotekun Agro Rangers has been very useful for the security of forests, reserve areas, and borders with neighboring countries,”
Alade further emphasized the need for other state governments that share borders with Benin Republic to replicate Governor Seyi Makinde’s approach.
“Other state governments like Ogun, Kwara, and Lagos that share borders with Benin Republic should emulate Governor Seyi Makinde’s approach with the creation of Amotekun Agro Rangers,” he stated.
The two-day conference was attended by a delegation from Oyo State, which included Executive Chairmen of Iwajowa LG, Hon. Muritala Abiodun, Saki West LG, Hon. Gbenga Akinola, and Itesiwaju LG, LG Chairmen from Ogun and Lagos states that share border with Benin Republic, LG chairmen from the Republic of Benin that share borders with Nigeria and traditional rulers
Representatives from the National Boundary Commission, ECOWAS and others were also in attendance
