The leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state, who are working for the victory of the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku to become the next democratically elected president of Nigeria have called on all members of the party in the state to shun any form of distraction at this crucial time in the preparation for elections.
Speaking to newsmen after their meeting in Ibadan on Monday on behalf of other leaders, Elder Wole Oyelese, who is the leader of the group stated that they felt that this is not a period to spend precious time on frivolities. They believe this is not the time to engage in activities whose value is at best belated as the people of Oyo state have long made up their minds to vote for Alhaji Atiku in the Presidential election.
The leaders opined that the party in Oyo state has adequately made a big statement by the Atiku Freedom March which was held towards the end of last year by the leadership of Atiku loyalists. Any other such activity will therefore amount to an overkill and a complete distraction at this point in time.
The leaders therefore called on the loyal members of the party to exert their energy more on door to door and polling unit to polling unit campaign rather than any meaningless jamboree at this home-streched stage in the race.
Mlembers of the party were reminded of the importance of the remaining few days before the presidential election which does not allow for any frolicking but serious contact activities.
In Conclusion, Elder Oyelese said other leaders of the party including former Deputy Governor of the state Alhahi Hazeem Gbolarumi, Hon Wale Adegoke , Former Commissioner Mikhail Aborode, Engineer Femi Babalola Jogor, Hon Busari, Chief Segun Oyewole called on all members to ensure they sensitize other members of the PDP in their areas to locate their PVC and keep them handy and ready for voting.
They finally called on all eligible voters to troop out in their numbers on election day to exercise their franchise and give Nigeria a new lease of life by electing Alhaji Atiku as the next president of Nigeria
