A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akinjide Kazeem Akinola has put smiles on the faces of more beneficiaries of his back-to-school support project.
Recalled that 250 families had benefitted N50,000 each from the project. Akinola, who was at the party’s meeting at Egbeda local government, extended the gesture to nothing less than 50 families, assuring that more masses-oriented programmes are already in the works.
He spoke shortly after attending the meeting on Thursday, alongside party leaders and stakeholders, where he reiterated the need for peace, unity, and togetherness among party members in Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, Oyo State.
Akinola described the meeting as a step in the right direction, emphasizing that his aspiration for the House of Representatives seat is not a “do-or-die” affair.
This was just as he reaffirmed his readiness to respect party supremacy in the build up to the 2027 election.
“This meeting is about peace, progress, and the victory of our great party in 2027. For me, politics is not a do-or-die thing. By 2027, we would have been out of power in the state for 8 years. So, if we must take the seat back, we must be united, we must be committed to fair play. When that is done, the post-primary election crisis would be minimal and would ensure APC’s triumph from the grassroots to the federal level,” Akinola stated.
He further pledged to continue contributing to his people through impactful initiatives.
“The back-to-school ismy own little way of giving back in this period of economic challenges facing families. And I have specifically chosen this route because I believe education remains the foundation for our future, and I will continue to support it,” he added.
Speaking earlier on behalf of Chief Olayide Abas, state chairman of the party, Hon. Joshua Oyebamiji, who is the senatorial chairman of the party in central senatorial district, explained that the meeting was convened to foster peace among aspirants and strengthen party supremacy in the federal constituency.
Oyebamiji stressed that the APC remains open and democratic, noting that all members have the right to aspire for any political office. He however appealed for decorum among party faithful and urged them to avoid divisions as the contest for the Egbeda/Ona-Ara federal seat gathers momentum.
“Today’s meeting is aimed at achieving three things: reaffirming the party’s supremacy, promoting balanced democracy, and most importantly, ensuring peace among aspirants and members ahead of the elections. APC is one in Oyo, and we must remain united,” Oyebamiji said.
