An Ibadan-born UN ambassador, Mogaji Abdulsabur Abiola Olawore has commended the Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde, for the impact and leadership role he played for the People’s Democratic Party, PDP before and during the Ondo state governorship election.
Mogaji Olawore made the statement while acknowledging the support Governor Makinde rendered for Ondo PDP and the party governorship candidate, Alfred Agboola Ajayi, in the last Saturday election.
He said Governor Makinde gave a good account of himself as a party leader, a true democrat, and a strong believer in electoral democracy adding that the governor’s huge contributions to the development of governance and politics in both the South West region and Nigeria can not be overemphasized.
Olawore, days after the election, said, “It is commendable that Governor Seyi Makinde again put his best for PDP in Ondo. It is auspicious and creative, and we are very proud of him and his leadership style. Thou, PDP lost the election in Ondo state, but the devotion and commitment of Governor Makinde and other party leaders will never be underestimated.
“Governor Makinde will continue to be a patriot, selfless politician, leader, and true democrat. His sacrifices and tireless efforts in defending democracy, no doubt, are examples for other political leaders to take.
“He always stood like the great wall of Gibraltar against the bad governance and undemocratic process to give the electorates value for their votes by ensuring that the right things were done to keep our democracy afloat.”
Olawoore also praised Governor Makinde for being proactive in the delivery of good governance in Oyo state, especially at the local government level, irrespective of party allegiance or consideration.
