The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland Iba Gani Adams has called on the federal government to decentralize the security architecture of the country if the issue of rising insecurity will be addressed.
Iba Gani Adams stated this at the 2025 Oke-Ibadan festival which is an annual celebration by the Aboke people of Ibadan.
The event held at the ancient mapo hall shows a unique Yoruba tradition that reinforces cultural identity, values, and beliefs.
Aare Gani Adams urged the federal government led by President Bola Tinubu to give power to other tiers of government to address insecurity in the country.
Iba added that allowing state police will help all sorts of security challenges
The Aare Ona Kakanfo eulogized Governor Makinde for equipping Amotekun in Oyo State and urged others to emulate same.
Mr. Afolabi Olayemi who delivered a special lecture on spate of insecurity, called on all and sundry to speak out when they see something strange.
Addressing dignitaries and members of the Odua People’s Congress at the Oke badan festival, the Deputy Coordinator Oodua people’s Congress, Oyo State, Alhaji Trimisiyu Adeniji (Olowoposi) said the group is ready to collaborate in addressing insecurity.
The 2025 Oke badan festival is a yearly celebration that brings together Yoruba sons and daughters.
