The party leaders also reaffirmed their support for the National leader of the party , Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu ,and the National Chairman , Comrade Adams Oshiomhole just as they charged them to continue to allow justice and fairness to guide their decisions for the good of the party.
The APC had dropped the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan from its national reconciliation committee and appointed the former National Interim Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande to head the reconstituted 12- man committee.
Excited by the development, the APC leaders after rising from their meeting in Ibadan yesterday thanked the National Leader, Ahmed Bola Tinubu and National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for responding to the request of members of the party.
A former state party secretary , and Senatorial chairman , Hon. Lasun Odebunmi , while addressing journalists in Ibadan after their meeting , employed the new reconciliation committee to pay particular attention to members grievances in Oyo state , by allowing all the stakeholders express their grievances with a view to bringing lasting peace to the party.
Speaking on the controversy that trailed the alleged nomination of the former governor Abiola Ajimobi as National Deputy Chairman ( South) , Hon. Odebunmi who served as state House Assembly member during the administration of Chief Kolapo Ishola , said the stakeholders were concerned about the Osogbo meeting , but the failure of the leaders to consult the state elders before the nomination.
According to him, the national leaders of the party are highly respected by all stakeholders in the state, in making the nomination they should have carried the stakeholders along because the nominee is there to represent the people of the state.
” That is the only issue . The national leadership of the party should have consulted the stakeholders , they should not impose a candidate on us .
” We respect them and we respect their opinion , but on the nomination of former governor Ajimobi , we are saying that we have so many leaders who are qualified, even more than him, not a leader who cannot deliver his constituency , talkless the senatorial district and the state .
” That leader should not be encouraged to lead us in the state , talk less of the national position. Unless you want to disorganise the South west APC ” , he stated.
The former governor Ajimobi was alleged to been nominated at the Osogbo meeting of leaders of the party to replace Chief Niyi Adebayo as APC Deputy National Chairman . Chief Adebayo has been appointed by President Mohammadu Buhari as Minister .
APC leaders in Ekiti state had also kicked against the alleged nomination of Ajimobi , and demanded that the position of the National Deputy Chairman tenure is still with Ekiti state
