A former deputy chief whip of The Nigerian Senate, Sen. Hosea Ayoola Agboola, has written the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over the parallel executives in Oyo State.
This is just as the national leadership of the party has scheduled Tuesday, February 20, 2018, to resolve issues relating to the harmonisation of last year’s parallel congresses of the party in Oyo State.
This, Nigerian Tribune reliably gathered, was sequel to a petition written by the former deputy chief whip, Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola, on behalf of ‘Concerned Stakeholders Forum’ of the party in the state.
Agboola, in a letter on behalf of the Concerned Stakeholders Forum, entitled ‘Petition against the illegal activities of Emiola Wasiu as the state secretary of the PDP, Oyo State chapter,’ addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Department of State Services, and copied the national chairman of the party, stated that the national executive of the party is yet to recognise the state executive owing to a parallel congresses held last year.
In his letter, Agboola stated that “there are currently two parallel executive committees in the PDP in Oyo State, which means, there is no recognised executive committee of the party in the state. And as a result of that, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party has decided to explore a political solution of harmonising the two parallel committees. This explains why the NWC has not ratified the state committee of the party as at today.
“It is to pre-empt the outcome of the result of the harmonisation that Mr Emiola has started writing various letters to the area commands and divisional police headquarters, purporting to be acting for and on behalf of the state chapter of the party.”
Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune, Alhaji Emiola hinted that “the state chapter of the party is currently handling the matter and has thus set up a committee headed by Chief Jacob Oyetoro to look into the matter.”
