Following the outcry generated by the harmonisation of members of the executive of the Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a former deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola, has appealed to all stakeholders to join hands to ensure total victory for the party come 2019.

According to Nigerian Tribune, Alleluyah, as the former senator is fondly called, said ‎the recent harmonisation is not a defeat to any faction of the party nor victory, but a step in the right direction to bring together all interests and stakeholders to ensure total victory for the party in 2019.

Agboola said: “The decision to harmonise the state executive is not to witch-hunt or favour any interest in the party but to position the party for an all-round success as we experienced in 2002 in the state.

“The harmonisation was done in response to a memo raised before the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party as contained in the minute of Thursday, November 30, 2017. There was a recommendation of a political solution to issues generated during state congresses in Adamawa, Borno, Kebbi, Kwara, Lagos, Ogun, Osun and Oyo states, through a memo.‎

“The NEC approved the memo, and this recommendation was implemented last Tuesday as proposed by the immediate national caretaker committee of the party.

“I can confidently say that the exercise was in line with the resolution of the party to position it to win 2019 elections easily in the country. That is why I am using this medium to appeal to all members of PDP in Oyo State to tread softly.

“Already, the people of the state are yearning for PDP to return to governance. We must do everything not to squander this chance. Our focus must be first of all on how to operate as a team, work in unity and approach 2019 election as an undivided party to ensure victory,” Agboola stated.

Meanwhile, in a related development, the coordinator, Communication and Strategy of the Seyi Makinde Organisation, Dotun Oyelade, has said that the harmonisation exercise calls for sober reflection rather than flexing of muscles or jubilation.‎
