The Soun of Ogbomoso palace has on Friday, recieved a new tortoise from the state government, insideoyo.com reports.
This is a replacement for the 344 years old tortoise popularly called Alagba which died in October 2019 and has since been embalmed.
The Caretaker Chairman Ogbomoso South Local Government, Hon Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy together with the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology in the state, Bar Olasunkanmi Olaleye and the Caretaker Chairman Ogbomoso North Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Ajagbe presented the new Tortoise to the monarch, Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III.
The commissioner in escort of the two chairmen while presenting the new Tortoise said this was actually done in line with the directive of the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde in delighting the king and the people of Ogbomoso Land in bringing back that symbolic prestige that seems lost since the demise of the historical being (Alagba) for sometime now.
The Commissioner congratulated the people of Ogbomoso Land for the great privilege we have having Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III as our monarch and also wished the Kabiyesi long live on the throne.
