Between Thursday and Saturday this weekend, all roads will lead to Oyo town as the Oyo Metropolitan Development Association in conjunction with the Alaafin of Oyo Royal Family will be marking the one year of the departure of late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, Alaafin of Oyo.
Oba Adeyemi III, it would be recalled, joined his ancestors 22 April 2022 in Ado-Ekiti, after reigning for 52 years on the throne.
According to a release from the office of lawmaker representing AFIJIO/Atiba/Oyo East/ Oyo West federal constituency, in the house of representatives and who is also the son of the departed monarch, Prince Akeem Adeniyi Adeyemi, ICT centres would be commissioned at the Federal College of Education (Special), Secondary School and at the School of Science, Oyo while a borehole project would be commissioned at Orisunmbare Community in Araromi area of the ancient town.
Continued Adeyemi who popularly known as Skimeh and Ogo Oyo, “At the Ọba Adeyemi III mini stadium at Ode Aremo, on Saturday, there would be interdenominational prayers to be coordinated by Sheikh Authentic Solaty, Imam Daud Igiogun, Sheikh Mojeed Alawaye, Rev (Dr) Samson Ayokunle (immediate past CAN president), Bishop Taiwo Adelakun and Bishop Mike Adebomi Tella.”
Speaking further, “It’s another way to immortalize our late father. Though we have been doing things since he departed. We are just using this to mark the one year anniversary. It has been east since he left because he was an uncommon support base. There is nothing we can do than to accept the reality and move on.
“It won’t stop here. We will continue to bring the dividends to our people. Oyo people have, overtimes, proved they are not ungrateful people. They appreciate those who have contributed to their development.
”So I like everyone to join us on Thursday and Saturday this week as we commission these projects and pray for the repose of our late father,” he added.
