The Akobo Integrity Lions Club has successfully completed a block of classrooms for St. David Anglican Primary School in Abidiodan, Oyo State.
The project, which began in 2019, was finally completed despite facing significant challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and economic instability.
The block of classrooms was commissioned by the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Bayo Lawal, on 27th of March who praised the club’s efforts in providing quality education infrastructure for the community.
The Deputy Governor was assisted by the District Governor District 40484, Lion Engineer Taiwo Oladayo Fatoki in the commissioning.
Lion ESV ‘Toyeshe Lawal, the 2024/2025 President of the Akobo Integrity Lions Club, expressed his gratitude to all members, sponsors, and stakeholders who contributed to the project’s success.
He said: “The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.
“You may not know the turbulence ahead in any journey, but I can assure you that unity of purpose is so strong that it can turn around a hopeless situation.”
Lawal emphasized the importance of commitment, resilience, and focus in achieving community development goals.
His words: “We can contribute little to the development of our community.
“The most essential tools are commitment, resilience, and focus; indeed, this project has taught us a lot about all those values.”
The Akobo Integrity Lions Club worked tirelessly to overcome obstacles and bring the project to fruition. Lawal acknowledged the support of the school management, students, and community association, who played a crucial role in the project’s success.
The completion of the block of classrooms is a significant milestone for the Akobo Integrity Lions Club and a demonstration of their commitment to serving the community.
